• IN-SCHOOL ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCES:
This year Philharmonic Orchestra musicians and
Music School faculty comprise more than 20 In-
School Ensembles. These ensembles introduce students
to various musical styles: Jazz, Classical,
World and Folk. All ensembles are interactive and
encourage active listening. While all of the groups
focus on a particular genre of music, some ensembles
further concentrate on specific topics such as
composing, improvising and story telling.
In addition, our musicians will work with classroom
teachers to design residencies and workshops
that will enhance their classroom curricula.
• ANNUAL EDUCATION CONCERTS:
This year’s Education Concerts will feature
Sounds of Nature. The concerts will be held at
the VMA in Providence on Tuesday, May 11 and
Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Concerts will be presented
at 9:45 and 11:30 each morning. Tickets are $5.00
per student, with one free chaperone ticket for every
20 students. Schools in which 80% or more of the
student population receive free or reduced lunch
may attend at no charge. There is a sliding scale for
school in which 40-80% of the students receive
lunch at a reduced price. Please inquire for details.
