WIND ENSEMBLE AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
Founded in 2002, RIPYWE was created to give advanced woodwind, brass and percussion students from Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut an opportunity to perform wind ensemble repertoire of the highest quality. RIPYWE offers these students a challenging and rewarding musical experience.
Both RIPYWE ensembles rehearse at the Carter Center for Music Education in East Providence.

CONDUCTOR BIOS
David Martins RIPYWE Music Director and Conductor, Senior Division B.M. Eastman School of Music; M.M. University of Lowell, Tanglewood Fellowship Recipient
Mr. Martins is a Professor of Music at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and an Adjunct Professor of Music at Boston University. In the summers Mr. Martins is the Director of Wind Activities for the Young Artist Orchestra at Tanglewood. He is the Music Director of the Boston University Wind Ensemble, University of Massachusetts Lowell Wind Ensemble and the Lowell Summer Concert Band. He has guest conducted Festival ensembles throughout the Eastern United States. He is a clarinetist with the Rhode Island Philharmonic and Boston Classical Orchestras and performs with New Hampshire Symphony Orchestra, ProArte Chamber Orchestra, Boston Ballet Orchestra and Alea III. He has recorded on CRI, Koch, Titanic, Gasparo and Albany labels. Mr Martins is a Boosey & Hawkes/Buffet artist clinician.
Marc Blanchette RIPYWE Junior Division Conductor B.M. Hartt School of Music, M.Ed. Rhode Island College
Marc Blanchette has been the Music Director at Mount St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket, Rhode Island since 1981. At Mount St Charles he conducts the Junior Band, Senior Band and Wind Ensemble, as well as the Jazz bands and handbell choirs. He is a clarinetist in the American Band.Mr. Blanchette has been a guest clinician and conductor and has published several articles.He conducted the 1986 and 1994 Rhode Island Junior High All State Honor Band, the 1995 New Hampshire Junior High Honor Band, and has conducted at numerous smaller festivals.His articles include a three part series in the Rhode Island Music Educators Review about commissioning band music.He was a guest lecturer at Harvard University for a conference on contemporary American music. Mr. Blanchette actively commissions music for secondary school bands. He was awardedaHarvard/Radcliffe grant for the commissioning of two works for band, the 1994-95 Christa McAuliffe Fellowship, and in 2003 Marc Blanchette was selected as a Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholar.
