Francisco Noya, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, was appointed director of the Valencia Youth Symphony at age 21. From Venezuela, he moved to Boston to study at Boston University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Composition and a Masters degree in Orchestral Conducting.
Mr. Noya has been the assistant conductor of the Caracas Philharmonic Orchestra and assistant to the music director of the Teatro Teresa Carreño, one of the most prestigious theaters in Latin America. He also served as music director of Opus, the concert music program of Venezuelan National Television.
Since moving to the United States, Mr. Noya has acted as assistant conductor of the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra and music director of the Southeastern Massachusetts's Youth Orchestra and the Quincy Symphony Orchestra. Formerly the music director of Boston's Symphony By The Sea, he has had critical acclaim for joint performances with the Bel Canto Opera. He is currently music director of the Longwood Symphony Orchestra and the Empire State Youth Orchestra. He has made guest conducting appearances in South America, Europe, and the United States and was chosen by the American Symphony Orchestra League to participate in the National Conductor Preview with the Utah Symphony Orchestra in the Fall of 1999.
