Assistant Director of Marketing and Communication

As the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communication, you work across all teams and share responsibility for marketing, public relations, customer service, selling tickets, raising money and creating exceptional experiences for patrons, students and families. You will coordinate with the Box Office, Development, Education, Artistic and Operations teams to execute a comprehensive strategic marketing plan that supports the Philharmonic’s growth-oriented goals for Orchestra ticket & subscription sales and Music School enrollment.

The Marketing team consists of the Director of Marketing & Communications and the Box Office & Group Sales Manager, as well as part-time Graphic Designer, Sales & Advertising Manager, Communications Coordinator and Box Office Representative. In 2012, we began implementation of a strategic plan to grow our audiences. As of 2017, paid attendance and lesson enrollments have increased by 42% and 39% respectively.

Orchestra and Music School Marketing is a multi-dimensional discipline, requiring constant customer engagement, broad and deep understanding of products and platforms, communication skills to develop messages and content that resonate with the market, and advanced marketing skills to coordinate and execute growth strategies. You need to be strategic, results-oriented, a great team builder and looking to make a difference.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate, develop, produce and distribute all creative materials
  • Support, motivate and supervise Marketing, Communications and Box Office team
  • Manage and implement a wide portfolio of advertising and media including direct mail, newspaper, radio, television and digital media platforms
  • Oversee Front-of-House operations at concerts and events with a focus on ensuring excellent customer experiences
  • Coordinate with Marketing Consultant on execution of plans and new initiatives

  • Knowledgeable in marketing, customer experience and public relations
  • Excellent at written and oral communication and possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization, including managing stakeholders across all departments
  • A self-starter with the ability to roll up your sleeves and pitch in wherever and whenever necessary to move the organization forward
  • Data-driven and results-oriented, with a track record of impacting real business metrics in a fast-paced environment
  • A strategic thinker that can drive multiple simultaneous projects to completion
  • Willing to learn and grow
  • Flexible and open to strategic experimentation
